Our Travels

Travels 2004

Mid January to Mid February was spent at our time share again in Puerto Vallarta.  The first week was in company of Gitka and George Moore of Ottawa, and the second week Cathy, our daughter, son-in-law Andrew, and granddaughter Bethany visited.

The next major trip in early June was a week spent Williamsburg, Virginia.  The Colonial Williamsburg is very much worth seeing - the visitor is transported to the mid 1700, and much is learnt about the beginings of the American Revolution.  The Busch Gardens nearby are extremely well laid out, interesting, and provide much entertainment.  Unfortunately, it rained on us all day, somewhat dampening our enthusiasm.  Williamsburg proper has one of the largest factory outlet malls we have encountered in our travels.

Latter part of June we spend two weeks in Las Vegas.  The first week was devoted to visiting the surrounding national parks and scenic areas:  Death Valley, CA, Sedona, AZ, Bryce, Zion, Grand Canyon National Parks, Cathedral Gorge State park, etc.  We rolled up about 1400 miles on our rental vehicle during that week.  The second week was spent relaxing at the resort, taking in all that Vegas has to offer.  The temperature in the mid 30s C was a bit hard to take.

Summer camping trip took us to Timmins area of Ontario, at the Kettle Lakes Provincial Park.  As the name states, the park contains 9 small kettle lakes, all fed and drained by groundwater alone.  Several have nice beaches for swimming in cool, clear waters.  This large park has a number of hiking and biking trails.    The second major stop was at the Killarney Provincial park.   This park has everything - picturesque hills and clear lakes, hiking trails, canoeing, etc.

Travels 2003

Early February saw us in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico.  Four weeks in July-August were spent camping at the Sleeping Giant Provincial park on Lake Superior, along with our daughter Catharine and granddaughter Bethany.  In September, after a week's stay at the Pinery, we took in a few productions at Stratford, and then journeyd to Kingston for our 40th wedding celebrations organized our kids.  Then we proceeded east to Vermont, and spent two weeks travelling up and down the Green Mountains.

Travels 2002

In the last few years, our first travel of the year is for the warmer climes - Mexico.  We have a flexible time share, both in time and location, which we excercise in January and February.  This time it was the Mayan Palace at Acapulco.  The

Our next trip was to visit old friends in Cape Cod, and then for some hill climbing in New Hampshire.   Part of the summer was taken up with a trip around Lake Superior, starting in Michigan, and continuing around to Thunder Bay, and then the North Shore.  The early fall is our annual outing to the Pinery, a provincial park on Lake Huron.  Then we flew to Colorado, for a conference, visiting of friends, and sampling hot springs.   In mid-October, we jorneyd to to Stratford Festival for some 'culture'.
